Is life coaching the same as therapy?
Do I need a life coach?
Short answers – no and yes.
So let’s dig deeper..
Therapy focuses on your past and helps you process those negative, hurtful, damaging emotions it generates. Therapy also deals with serious mental health issues.
Life coaching focuses on the present and the future. This type of coaching tackles the thoughts and emotions you are generating today and teaches you how to change those thoughts and feelings to reach your goals. You could say it’s mindset work to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself. If your mind isn’t in the right place, those goals will sit unobtained and you will become frustrated and unmotivated to keep going.
Mentoring can be life changing. And really, that is the point of hiring a coach. Whether your goals are related to health, relationship, finance, business, – I coach that has taken the same journey will make the difference on how quickly you get to your goals.
For many people, including myself, I discovered life coaching when I was in search of my “purpose”. What am I supposed to do with my life. What is my calling and the reason I was put here on Earth? Think of it this way – life coaching is for the person that is functioning pretty well every day but really wants to start taking things up a notch to have a GREAT life! You will gain energy to get healthy and strive for more happiness, joy, love and compassion in its life.
